Zöldveltelini (“ZUHLD-FELT-EL-EEN-EE”) is the Hungarian name for Grüner Veltliner, a white grape variety extremely popular in Austria and grown in some parts of the Czech Republic. Some growers on Hungary’s border with Austria have also adopted Zöldveltelini, which produces fresh, crisp wines the best of which can rival the world’s finest Chardonnays.
