We're currently doing some long-overdue site maintenance that will likely involve some outages, including a temporary shut-down of our commenting functions. We'll hopefully be done within a few days. In the meantime, thanks for your patience and concern!

Zéta

(Grape Varietal)

Zéta (“ZAY-TA”), formerly known as Oremus, is a hybrid of the Furmint and Bouvier varietals. A relatively new varietal, Oremus was introduced to the Tokaj-Hegyalja region in 1951 and authorized for production in 1990, before it took on its new name in 1999. It is known for producing remarkably high sugar concentrations, early ripening and susceptibility to botrytis, which makes it a common component in Aszú wines.
