We were happy to hear today that a Hungarian farmer has won the "European Innovative Young Farmer Award," an honor bestowed by something called the European Council of Young Farmers. Thirty-year-old Péter Papp (left), who has a 670-strong herd of mostly dairy cows out in the Hungarian cow capital of Debrecen, was recognized for a project having to do with sustainable agriculture.

Like we said, this makes us happy, because sustainable agriculture is really important, especially in a country like Hungary that faces serious issues of soil degradation and so on. But we could think of some other innovations in the area of cattle production that would make us even happier. Anyway, congrats to Papp, especially if his next project is finding a way to raise Hungarian cows that are useful for something other than milk.
