You Scream, I Scream, We All Scream for Túró Rudi Ice Cream!

turo-sicle.jpgIn yet another indication that God may in fact exist, the leading producer of Hungary’s uniquely delicious chocolate-covered cheese curd snack is launching a brand of jégkrém. The as-yet unnamed product from the Túró Rudi brand known in Hungary as Pöttyös (and elsewhere known as “Dots”) is designed as an impulse buy to compete with ubiquitous Eskimo products. And according to Judit Sipos of Friesland, the new product is not just a traditional TR frozen solid: “They [consumers] wanted a refreshingly creamy and cooling citrus flavor.” A number of other products designed to take up more space on supermarket shelves have already been launched by the hugely successful brand, such as the “Túró Bonbon,” a cookie-shaped creation. We would have called them for more details, we didn’t want to distract them from finishing all that research and development, and otherwise getting the stuff to our local corner store in time for summer.
