
Vargabéles (“VARGA-BEY-LESH”) is traditional Hungarian “noodle pie” dessert made from pasta, and which can include eggs, túró, sour cream, raisins and sugar. While often served in no-frills restaurants in enormous portions like the above, vargabéles was a memorably menu item in a meal enjoyed by French President Nicolas Sarkozy during his state visit to Hungary in September, 2007.
