Truffle Festival Proves Hard to Track Down
The thing about truffles is that they are notoriously hard to find. Which is probably why the Hungarian Truffle Association - yes, there is such a thing - is holding its Truffle Festival on a Friday afternoon in Üllő, the small town just past Ferihegy Airport. As well as the opportunity to sample and learn about truffles, visitors will be able to try some Hungarian specialties, such as Somlói galuska, spiced up with locally found - or grown - Szarvasgomba. The event will also showcase the homoki szarvasgomba (terfezia terfezioides), a variety of truffle found only in Hungary. Unfortunately, none of our sources mentioned exactly where the festival will take place in Üllő, which means visitors will probably just have to sniff it out.
