This just in: Hungary’s Magyar Élelmiszer-biztonsági Hivatal (food safety authority) has released a statement saying there is no indication that any Salmonella-contaminated American peanut butter is in circulation in Hungary. (Several people recently died in America from mogyoróvaj containing the food-borne bacteria.) Which shouldn’t come as a great surprise, given that American peanut butter is about as common in Hungary as wood-flavored bread rolls.
