The Gourmet’s Cookbook (Elek Magyar)

Magyar was a journalist who lived between the two wars and admittedly did not cook. He was a “foodie” who collected the recipes in his book from throughout Hungary when he was traveling for his reporting. His weekly gourmet columns were collected in 1932, but the book – a comprehensive book which covers every aspect of Hungarian cookery – was not published in English until 1970.
