Takler Noir Gold 2005 (Szekszárd)

This wine from Takler was featured at Monarchia‘s 2008 portfolio tasting, and was retailing at that time for approximately Ft 4,500.

    My girlfriend and I have just returned from Budapest on a little weekend away and we are both agreed that this could be one of the finest bottles we have either ever tasted.

    We had an anniversary meal at Gundel (Not realising the formaility, i had not worn a jacket and was kindly lent one!)
    The service was unbelievable and the food was some of the best i have tasted outside the London starred restaurants. The Sommelier was wonderful, spoke very good Engish (My Hungarian is not up to scratch!) and on our preferences chose this bottle for us.
    It was a perfectly balanced, aromatic and beautiful wine which i am desperately trying to find here in the UK but to no avail. Any ideas then please leave a comment here!

    I could go into a full description but I don’t want to explain this wine any further as it really is worth just visiting Hungary for and tracking down – if i did, it would spoil the suprise. ;)

    Absolutly wonderful, top marks from us.
