Szalonnasütés (“SA-LOW-NA SHOO-TAYSH”) means “roasting bacon” in Hungarian. It is a popular social activity in summer to roast szalonna over an open fire. The melted fat is let to drip on bread, and it is eaten with raw onion.

    WITH MUCH LOVE, I CAN REMEMBER MY GRANDFATHER VASZILY TAKING CHARGE OF THE “BACON FRY”. IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE WE’VE HAD THIS LOVELY FOOD BUT NOW MY NEPHEW (WHO FONDLY REMEMBERS IT FROM HIS CHILDHOOD) IS FORMING A NEW GROUP, FROM OUR FAMILY AND HIS IN-LAWS. More converts!!!!
