Szaloncukor ("SA-LON-TSOOK-OR") in Hungary have the same function as candy canes in the United States, used as Christmas decorations and eaten in abundance during the Christmas season. Szaloncukor are chocolate covered candy wrapped in colorful foil which come in many different flavors. The most popular szaloncukor is the jelly- filled variety.
