Sopron (SHOP-RON), on the border with Austria near Lake Fertő is essentially a continuation of the Burgenland region. In addition to a variety of solid reds and whites, the sub-alpine climate makes the area particularly suitable for the production of sweet botrytis wines. The best known local winemakers are Weninger and Ráspi.
