A Pair of Valentine’s Day Specials We Could Learn to Love

Unlike in the past, this year we’re not going to go out of our way to provide loving coverage to all the restaurants in town offering special menus and extras for Valentine’s Day, for the simple reason that we generally haven’t found VD the most charming night to dine out. But we have gotten wind of an attractive pair of menus from a couple of Chew “Top 33″ regulars that we are willing to bet will get the whole thing spot on.

First, from Baraka comes the below menu, which is Ft 15,000 (an utterly reasonable €52) complete with wine and service, or Ft 11,500 sans vin:

And if chlorophyll risotto sounds like something you’d put on your face rather than eat, just wait until you hear what the Gresham Kávéház is offering.

As part of their Valentine’s Day offering, the spa upstairs from the kávéház within the majestic Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest is tempting visitors with a special culinary-style treatment including a 30-minute “Choco-orange” face massage followed by a 30-minute body massage with orange and cinnamon oils and a tasty fruit selection. But if you’d just like to eat, you can enjoy the following VD menu:

The menu comes complete with your choice of one of several taste bud-tickling desserts, live (guitar) music, a glass of champagne and a “surprise gift” for each diner, and costs Ft 19,000 per head – or Ft 52,000 if you go whole hog and throw in the hour upstairs in the spa.
