Some Blessed Ice Cream at the Basilica

Café Cathedral Budapest

Café Cathedral Budapest

With the sun having just popped its head over the clouds and the long and grim winter already on the horizon, now's a good time to pop out for a nice tasty ice cream. If that logic makes sense to you, and you find yourself in downtown Pest, go check out the newish Café Cathedral (follow link for contact details and user feedback). While I haven't checked out the sleekish international restaurant that sits beyond the ice-cream counter facing Szent István tér, what you get at the window is enough to make it worth a visit: good flavors, decent prices - two scoops for Ft 300, three for Ft 400 and four for Ft 500 - cheerful service and beautiful presentation. Hope they keep it open all winter long.

Looks like a turd to me

tried that ice cream on a hot tip from a friend at the last godor klub WAMP....and promptly went back for more. the cinnamon and coffee flavors are divine, good enough for a critical mass pit stop this last monday!

Drum - yeah you are right - looks pretty poopy. But really, it's tasty. Give it a try.

Why would anyone eat here when you can get 1 scoop of Hagan Daaz over by Deak ter for 850ft?

We walked past the Cafe Cathedral one evening last week looking for somewhere to eat, and we weren't in the slightest bit tempted to go in. The ice cream counter and the large bureau de change signs outside just scream tourist trap.

Great to know the ice cream is good though.
