Russian Firm to Open American-style Italian Restaurants in Hungary

How’s this for globalization: According to business portal napi.hu, the Moscow-based Rosinter restaurant group is going to bring its Il Patio Italian restaurant chain to Hungary, starting with a 400 square-meter location on József körút opposite Corvin köz. And it gets better, because from the look of the company’s website (where we got the above pic, apparently from one of its Russian outlets), the dining experience at Il Patio looks to be as “American”-style as T.G.I. Friday’s, especially when it comes to the kiddies. (“We have an entertaining children’s menu for our young guests: pizza in the form of a turtle or Chipollino, “Chocolate picture” dessert, frosty milk shakes and tropical juices that are good for your child’s health!”) But this should be no surprise, because T.G.I.F. is also operated in Hungary by Rosinter, along with the very-American seeming Planet Sushi next door.

The napi.hu story says the firm is currently negotiating for five or six additional “premium” locations in Budapest. Maybe if there’s not enough demand for Il Patio-style food, they can sublet the space out for some Italians, Japanese or Americans to open a nice Russian restaurant.
