Rumored New Budapest Restaurants So Hip They Don’t Even Exist

We’ve just received the following note from the editor of a glossy magazine published in a certain well-known glossy European capital looking for some rather intriguing information on the Budapest dining scene. (Address and first and last paragraph omitted.) See if this rings any more bells for you than it did for us:

I want to put together a piece for the December issue and I am looking out for any “guerrilla restaurants” or “roaming restaurants” in Budapest. These are restaurants that pop-up for a limited period and their exclusivity lies in the fact that only a few people know about them – and that they’ll disappear in a day or so. I am sure you have come across this concept before and was wondering if you had heard of any that are taking place in Dec?

We’re not quite sure what to make of this. Should we be flattered that the editor thinks that the dining scene in Budapest is dynamic and hip enough to have something like this? Sad that it doesn’t? Or sad that it does, but that we don’t know about it? Anyway, if you know of anything like what our mystery editor is talking about, drop a note into the same mailbox we fished it out from, and we’ll forward it on. Oh, and no, a hip-looking restaurant that opens up and then quickly closes because it’s so terrible not even the biggest trend-slaves won’t come doesn’t count.
