If anyone’s in the market for a nice Hungarian/international restaurant with a decent location, a recently-renovated interior, some super river views and a vaguely sacrilegious Hungarian pun name, we may have just the thing for you. From two different sources we hear that the owners of District V eatery Bíboros are looking to get out.
(Bíboros in Hungarian means “cardinal,” and the -boros is often used to indicate something has been stewed in wine.) We’ve only eaten there once, and didn’t find it hugely compelling, but know of some people who think it’s just heavenly. As for why it has apparently failed to live up to whatever expectations its current owners had when they opened it slightly less than a year ago, one guess is that it simply isn’t special enough to draw people from outside the neighborhood, while the nearby Taverna Dionysos and Trattoria Toscana monopolize the walk-by trade. Or maybe it’s just Divine Retribution for that name.
