Rebarbara

Rebarbara is a very seasonal and not particularly common vegetable in Hungary. Unlike the rhubarb that is imported into the country during the off-season, the stalks of most Hungarian-grown rebarbara are fully green when ripe.

The above picture of a (very untraditional) dessert of rebarbara and rice pudding is from this March 2008 review of Lou-Lou restaurant in Budapest.

For related information, see gyümölcs (fruit) and zöldség (vegetables).
