Breaded Cheese

This simple dish was among the top 10 in the mains category in a 2010 online vote to find Hungary’s favorite dishes. It is usually served with a side of rice or fries accompanied by ketchup, mayonnaise or tartar sauce. This is a translation of a recipe published by konyhamester.hu. The author of the recipe mentions that cheese types with a harder consistency than trappista can also be used for this dish, but advises against trying the recipe with softer ones.

Ingredients:
Trappista cheese
Flour
Eggs
Bread crumbs
Salt
Oil

Method:
Slice the cheese into 5-6-millimeter slices and bread them: First flour the slices, then dip them into eggs to which you add a pinch of salt, then flour again, then dip into eggs again, then turn them in the bread crumbs. Fry using plenty of hot oil. When turning the cheese over, use a spatula and be careful not to tear the breading.
