Fidesz is planning to write a new law that would define just what exactly makes something a “Hungaricum”, index.hu reports. The new law, which would also apply to more than just food and drink (and could therefore possibly include the Rubik’s Cube), would seek to expand upon the existing trademarks that exist for Hungarian food products. An expert interviewed by the portal said the introduction of such a system would need more planning, but could improve on the current status, as what exactly makes something a “Hungarikum” is often so vague, we wouldn’t be especially surprised to see someone try to pass off csirke tikka maszala as a local flavor.
