Though there are few dedicated bread bakeries in Hungary these days, bread is an important part of daily life in Hungary. Kifli and zsemle are typical Hungarian bread rolls, and are sold just about everywhere. Most grocery stores carry a decent selection of bread, and smaller chains of bake shops sell snacks like pogácsa, sajtos roló and other yeast-raised treats. Pogácsa is a favorite baked snack and comes in a wide variety of flavors, although quality can vary tremendously from shop to shop. Street snacks also include lángos, kenyérlángos and perec.
