Pannónia

Emmentaler

Pannónia (“PAH-NOH-NE-AH”), the Hungarian version of the Swiss Emmentaler cheese, was marketed under the name “Ementáli” until 1981 when a contract between the two countries banned that name. It has a bittersweet taste which resembles the flavor of walnuts. Rich white wines go with it.
