Óvári (“OH-VAH-RE”), one of the most popular types of cheese in Hungary, was named after Mosonmagyaróvár where it was developed at the beginning of the 20th century. It has a mild smell and taste, which makes it suitable for many purposes. It can be eaten breaded, added to salads and used in baking. Óvári has a smoked variety which is flavored with caraway seeds. Light white and red wines both go with it.
