Closing Time: Last Sate for Nusantara as White Heaven Goes to Hell

nusantara1c.jpg

Before we return to writing about restaurants that are newly-born, or at least alive, time for our regular look at ones that are dead or dying. If you know of any that we don't, clue us in by leaving a comment below.

  • While we're not 1,000% sure, it seems that Budapest is now 100% free of Indonesian restaurants. Last week a Buda-side tipster dropped the news that the pleasant Nusantara (above pic from a review we never got around to finishing) has shut down, and they're not answering the phone. This is doubly sad, because for a while there was also an Indonesian joint in Pest.
  • As we reported last month, Óceán Bár and Grill is closing. Latest news is that its last day of business will be Sunday. Meanwhile, the owners have announced that the space will be turned into a Legends sports bar/restaurant. More on this later.
  • Way back in April of 2007 we said that White Heaven Café & Restaurant should just be a bar rather than a restaurant . Looks like someone took our advice, as the place was recently closed, and looks set to reopen as a bar. More on this later as well.

Oh, how sad about White Heaven...one big salty tear just rolled down my cheek.

OK,I know this ain't culinary heaven, I've been to the other places, many times, I miss Lou Lou particularly, but even the Pizza Hut on Alkotas in district 12 closed. They had a deal for buy 1 get 1 free. If you picked it up. I don't live far from that place, so it was an easy, quick solution to hunger. It got the job done. But maybe that's why they went under. Too many free pizzas. ??? Also, truth be told, I guess I'm like the rest of you. Concerned about the economy, and not going out much to restaurants. Is it a vicious (not Sid) circle?
