In case you were wondering how last Thursday’s inaugural Bitch, Moan and Wine Society tasting was, the answer is… hell, I can’t exactly remember. Hahahah – no, seriously: This was a very solid start to what I hope becomes a local establishment. The idea of the club is pretty straightforward: you pay a few thousand HUFs and get to taste several different notable wines (as well as some local artisan foods), all of which you can then order, in some cases with juicy discounts.
While I did hear some grumblings that there was too much lecture-hall-style yakking about the bottles being cracked – in this case, a selection of mostly white offerings from the Szeremley clan – the setting was pleasantly casual, and the crowd seemingly devoid of the suit-wearing bores that usually mar these sort of events. So count me in for the next one, as long as everyone promises to send me home by midnight with a big glass of water.
