Seafood Fans Delighted as Nordsee Set to Open New Flagship Restaurant in Downtown Budapest

nordsee2.jpgGerman premium seafood chain Nordsee will open its second and much larger “flagship” restaurant in Budapest in a matter of days on downtown Váci utca, penzcentrum.hu reports. Nordsee opened its first and much smaller restaurant in the West End shopping mall 18 months ago, and has since decided to expand. The new restaurant will offer the full Nordsee range, with seafood imported from Germany. As part of their expansion plans, a third unit will be opened in Buda in the fourth quarter, according to Botond Pekár, the head of Nordsee’s Hungarian operations. Nordsee is also expanding this year to Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Spain and the UAE.

The big question: will they only have their “OK” fish fast food or also
offer there fresh fish and seafood for cooking at home? Back in
Germany Nordsee was in first place a fish store with food and
    snacks attached…

  2. Vándorló says:

“Nordsee is also expanding this year to Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Spain and the UAE.” Maybe that should be ‘expanding its operations in’ rather than ‘to’ as Nordsee is already in some of those places, certainly the one between Beyoglu and Taksim, Istanbul (Istiklal Cad. 143) has been there a while. And I know there is one in Dubai. Anyway, glad to see semi-decent, almost-fresh, mass-market seafood arriving in Budapest. Anything that doesn’t come coated in breadcrumbs is a blessing, too.

Good news! Well, until it lasts, that is… I bet it will close down in 30 months or less, any taker?

    Hi,
May anyone advise if there is an English course available in food handing in Hungary. I’m interested in open up a business. Thank you in advance.

  5. Peter in Budapest says:

Nordsee once were owners of one of the biggest fishing fleets in Eurpope. Many years ago they split off from Deutsche See (wholesale) and Iglo (frozen fish) and shortly after in most areas gave up their rfetail activity. They expected ever more trouble with the quality (and quantity) of fish (mainly form the North Sea). Since they have effectively become a fast-food chain dealing in seafood based products. I would hardly call the a “premium chain” but they are the only big ones in the segment.
