Gosh how they grow up fast! During the breathless run-up to the opening last fall of Nobu Budapest some critics said they didn’t expect the local branch of the super-luxury Japanese chain to make it to Christmas, the place quietly just quietly celebrated its first birthday. Now I am hoping someone will decide I deserve an early xmas or birthday present and take me to the special “Pacific Fish” dinner they have slated for later this month.
Even if you are one of the nattering nabobs of Nobu negativism, you’ll have to admit the below menu looks pretty nifty:

And when you consider the premium you usually pay in Hungary global branded luxury goods and “experiences,” the price tag – which works out to less than €100 a head, with wine, service and probably a couple of cocktails – is pretty swell. And did I mention I have a birthday coming up?

I’ll take you as long as we can take some pork bellies home for breakfast and no skimping on the saki!
