Monarchia Zen 2006 (Eger)

This wine from the Monarchia winery was featured at the 2008 “portfolio” tasting of distributor Monarchia Matt International, and was retailing at that time for approximately Ft 1,600.

Crisp, a bit hot on the back of the tongue. Almost too tart, but still worth another try. Hungarians are proud of this grape – but it could be a bit more subtle.

  2. Zoltan says:

Fruity but somewhat too sour for my tastes. I’ll probably pass on this next time.

  3. Erik says:

I’m getting a little something ususual on the nose… but it might be a smell I could get used to. Meanwhile, there is something strange and leathery on the palate, but again not totally unpleasant.

  4. Zen says:

Interesting green dirty water with a lack of a nose at first with a hint of citrus, a bit of ginger coming through with a hint of mineral, joined by peach and apricot in the mouth but burns a bit.

  5. Tom V says:

Tasty expansive fruitiness, peaches and pears and the like. Could be a fun match with a fruit salad, or any green salad, green salad with duck.
