Never been a huge fan of the grape, and this doesn’t help. My tongue felt pickled after the first sip. It got a bit more creamy over the next few tries, but would be happy to move on.
First had this wine (from a different vintage) maybe 18 months ago; liked it then and liked it now, though it’s not as crisp or steely as I remember. For Ft 1,800 I *might* take some home.
It was more of a semi-dry than a dry, and left the edges of my tongue tingling. The wine is okay, but I have tasted better.
Asparagus green. Impressive Lemon and Lime, citrusy, waxy nose with a hint of pepper. Citrus character continues on palate but sharp acids deliver a rough finish rather than fresh tingling acids that tease the mouth. Bit like sucking on a lemon. Needs smoother finish to be a good Gruner.
Not a huge fan of whites generally but enjoy the underlying smoothness to this one. Acids are sharp. Could be good with stinky cheeses?
