Mátra

Wine Region

The Mátra (“MAAH-TRAH”) is the name given to a range of hills in the north of Hungary, just to the west of the Eger wine region. The hills are the highest in the country and shelter the southern facing vineyards from the northerly wind. Unlike Eger, the Mátra region predominantly produces white wine noted for its fresh and fruity flavor.
