Mangalica Mania (I): Stake Your Claim Early For This Weekend’s Fancy Pig Festival

Mangalica Pigs Roasting at First Budapest Mangalica Festival 2008

Just a quick post to remind you that the second annual Mangalica festival kicks off in Budapest tomorrow. You can get a sense of what it will be like by reading this report from last year’s festivities. Tomorrow we will be posting more juicy Mangalica-related content, though given that the 2008 edition was so overrun by premium Hungarian pork fans, you might want to just go down to City Park tonight and camp out.

UPDATE: For more ongoing Mangalica mania, don’t miss this, and especially not this. And don’t forget to floss!

  1. cheflaszlo says:

I wish I were there. Poor little piggies! I rather see them…no, KILL ‘EM ALL

  2. Stan says:

I’ll be there, making kosher jokes…
Just kidding, I would never do that.
Look for the guy with a roast-pig-on-a-stick in one hand and “demizson” in the other, it’s probably me.
(how do you say demizson in English? I guess I just don’t drink enough).

  3. Elsbeth says:

    re: demizson–how about ‘demijohn’?

  4. Gladio says:

    I’m impressed! I’m impressed! I’m impressed!
How it is possible to keep the food in such hygienic conditions? The gap of 20 years between the European standards and this country is still rising instead reducing. Congratulations!
