Makó Eyes European Monopoly on Kebab Ingredients

doner.jpgThe town of Makó, until now famous only for its onions, looks soon to become the kebab capital of Europe. Turkish-owned Duna-Döner Kft. is soon to begin construction of the biggest and most modern kebab meat factory in Central and Eastern Europe, gradually transferring production to the new Ft 500 million (€2.14 million) factory from Graz. The Makó kebab factory will process ten tons of meat per day, and will supply every Turkish restaurant in Western Europe with gyros meat, at least according to index.hu. The best news, at least for Hungarian producers, is that the factory will purchase the beef and poultry offcuts locally. The company will initially employ 60 people, later increasing to 100, and the factory will be scalable, allowing it to meet Europe’s insatiable demand for street meat.
