We're currently doing some long-overdue site maintenance that will likely involve some outages, including a temporary shut-down of our commenting functions. We'll hopefully be done within a few days. In the meantime, thanks for your patience and concern!

Majoránna

Marjoram

Majoránna (“MOY-ORANNA”) is used in Hungary for flavoring soups made from potatoes or mushrooms, főzelékek made from potatoes or beans, meats including poultry and wild game, and wine. It is sometimes called pecsenyevirág. (Pecsenye means “roasted meat,” and virág means “flower.”) It is grown in many gardens.

For related information, see fűszer (spices) and fűszernövény (herbs).
