We're currently doing some long-overdue site maintenance that will likely involve some outages, including a temporary shut-down of our commenting functions. We'll hopefully be done within a few days. In the meantime, thanks for your patience and concern!

Lestyán

Lovage

Lestyán (“LESH-TYAAN”) was earlier grown in almost every garden in Hungary, and its leaves, seeds and root used both fresh and dried. Today, only the plant’s root is sold at stores in dried and cut form, which is usually cooked into soups. Its leaves can also be used in soups, salads and cheese, and its seeds in bread, salads, rice and liquors.

For related information, see fűszer (spices) and fűszernövény (herbs).
