We're currently doing some long-overdue site maintenance that will likely involve some outages, including a temporary shut-down of our commenting functions. We'll hopefully be done within a few days. In the meantime, thanks for your patience and concern!

Kéknyelű

Wine Varietal

Kéknyelű (“KAYK-NYEH-LOO”), literally “blue stem” is a rare white grape varietal grown only in the Badacsony region. While all most modern grape varietals are self-pollinating, Kéknyelű vines must be planted alongside Budai Zöld rows to ensure they are fertilized. Difficult to cultivate, the Kéknyelű grape ripens in early October and yields thick and well-structured wines with a characteristic bouquet, lively acids and an elegant tang.
