Wine Varietal

Kéknyelű ("KAYK-NYEH-LOO"), literally "blue stem" is a rare white grape varietal grown only in the Badacsony region. While all most modern grape varietals are self-pollinating, Kéknyelű vines must be planted alongside Budai Zöld rows to ensure they are fertilized. Difficult to cultivate, the Kéknyelű grape ripens in early October and yields thick and well-structured wines with a characteristic bouquet, lively acids and an elegant tang.
