Kékfrankos
Grape Varietal

Kékfrankos ("KAYK-FRAHN-KOSH"), more commonly known outside Hungary as "Blaufränkisch," enjoyed its heyday in the Communist area, when it was mass produced as cheap table wine. However, this versatile grape is is still very popular today, and offers diverse fruit and spice flavors and significant of tannin. In addition to being sold under its own name by many of Hungary's best-known producers, it is one of the main components of Bikavér.
