Jó étvágyat (“YO-ATE-VADJ-YAT”) means literally “good appetite,” and is said in Hungarian as commonly and with the same good cheer as bon appétit is said in French (and increasingly, in English). If you yourself are wishing someone jó étvágyat, you can add kívánok (“KEY-VAAN-OK”) on the end, or if you are in a group wishing it to someone, you can get creative and add kívánunk (“KEY-VAAN-UNK”) instead.
Jó étvágyat!
Bon appétit!/Good Appetite!
