We're currently doing some long-overdue site maintenance that will likely involve some outages, including a temporary shut-down of our commenting functions. We'll hopefully be done within a few days. In the meantime, thanks for your patience and concern!

It Was Only a Bad Non-Burek Dream

there-is-burek.jpgWe seldom publish hand-wringing corrections here at Chew.hu, as we are generally careful about making mistakes, and it’s hard to get too excited about food-based factual slip-ups. But we feel obliged today to make a point of pointing out that yesterday’s triumphant piece about the “return” of burek to Budapest appears to have included one significant error, namely that (as reader D.S. alerted us) there’s actually been a place selling the luscious Balkan street-meat-and-cheese pastry over on District XIII’s Hegedűs Gyula utca for the past two-and-a-half years. (They also sell lots of other flaky delicacies, and deliver.) Our bad! On the other hand, we did end up finding you not one but two sources of burek, so quit your complaining.
