Irsai Olivér (“EER-SHA-EE OL-IYV-AYR”) is a Hungarian white wine grape crossed by Pál Kocsis in 1930 from Pozsony and Csabagyöngye. It ripens very early in late August and early Sept, is low in acids for soft, lively and aromatic wines. It ages fast and is therefore not suited to aging, but makes for a refreshing table wine. Typically grown in Pannonhalma-Sokoróalja, Balatonboglár, Mátraalja and Neszmély.
