While one out of three Europeans buy organic products, only one out of eight Hungarians do, citing their cost when compared to other products, napi.hu reported a Nielsen market survey as discovering. 84% of Hungarians consider organic products more healthy, 48% believe they are better for the environment, and 44% believe they help local producers. This second set of numbers was much more aligned with European averages. While European consumers on the whole agreed that organic products frequently cost too much, they were more likely to buy them nonetheless, although what should also be considered is that while only 12% of European shoppers go to stores without organic products, the same figure in Hungary is 25%. Looks like things aren’t changing all that fast.
Well, to be honest if you arrive around midday at the organic market near MOM Park, the veggies looks so dry and old, you do not want to buy/take them even they are free:)
They look like rubbish… I tryed and spent a little fortune on milk and bivaly yogurt and they have a very strong animal taste. I could not have it,so I give it to the dog.
But I am pretty sure that there are some people who really enjoy the taste of them.
About the veggie you have to really wake up early to get the best products,but still so expensive!!!
I do not think that supermarkets sell such bad fruits and vegetables to harm your health.
In my opinion the best vegetables one can find are on the way to Tesco in Budaors(at the junction with Lagymanyosi hid) on both sides of the road.

I think the best way to get organic veggies/fruits is to know your seller at the market. Befriend “Kiss Pista” or “Mariska neni” or whomever, so that you know where your food comes from or try to grow as much as you can in your own garden.

But even in the píac you have to choose carefully, some people just resell what they bought on some big market …
My wife knows where to shop, though.
Also we have some neighbours in our village near Héviz who produce and sell honey, tökmagolaj, walnuts, kaposta and so on.
To buy from them directly is the best solution for both parties – eliminating any middlemen …
