Owner of Super-Mellow Budapest Hippie Café Not So Mellow

Darshan Udvar Budapest

Always amusing consumer blog Tékozló Homár has recently developed into an entertaining forum for shouting matches between disappointed diners and defensive restaurateurs, but the latest exchange is the funniest yet. The restaurant in question is the Darshan Udvar, a super boho café/restaurant in Budapest's small hippie quarter around Miksáth tér.

The original complaint to Homár lists at length the many faults of one particular waiter with "greasy hair, jeans and dirty T-shirt; a template for bad hygiene." It is a tale of bad service the likes of which we have seen many times, and which never ceases to amaze and dismay. What is more interesting is the combative response from the owner, who opens with; "I bet you have a head full of hair gel and glittering, trendy clothes." He goes on: "I'm sorry for your parents for bringing up a child with this cosmic problem to fight on the front line among restaurant critics. I have one piece of advice, get some money together and open your own restaurant. Until then, my underdeveloped friend, my staff will dangle their fingers [and not just their noses] into your drinks." Harsh, dude.
