Furmint

Grape Varietal

Furmint (“FOOR.MINT”), known as Mosler in Austria, is one of the Tokaj region’s three main white wine grapes, although its precise origins are unclear. Furmint is a late variety, usually ripening in the second half of October, making it a very good host for Botrytis and suitable for the production of Aszú. It is also used to produce single-varietal dry wines known for their fragrant, fiery, acidic and tart characteristics. Furmint is also grown in in Somló and Bükkalja.
