While it’s not a Hungarian invention, Feketeerdő torta (“FEK-EH-TE-ER-DOO-TORE-TU”) is commonly found at Hungarian pastry shops which serve fancy layer cakes. It is chocolate layer cake with sour cherries, lots of whipped cream, and chocolate shavings on top.

This torta is of course best when made and eaten in the Black Forest (near to where we live in Germany) …
My wife tried it the first time in the cafe in the water castle of the little village of Glatt (near Freudenstadt) – she was overwhelmed …
Now we have it not too often, because it is a “calorie bomb”.

The fekete erdö icecream in Hungary by cote d’or is also very nice, we have it regularly at home, together with fruits from my “rum pott” …
