Expert Hopes Higher Food Prices Will Bring Improved Quality

tescoauchan.jpgAccording to at least one food analyst, the currently rising food prices in Hungary may result in higher quality goods finding their way onto shelves. We live in hope. Zoltán Flórián of the food industry consultancy company Agrár Európa Kft, told napi.hu, that there is an "historical opportunity" for retail chains to change their focus of attention "from price to quality, reliability, flexibility and precision." Widely publicized price hikes also represent an opportunity for the retail chains to take advantage of customers by increasing their margins. Flórián predicts an average of 10% to 15% hike between September and December. Central Statistics Office (KSH) data already reflects changes in prices of basic foodstuffs.
