Erős (“EH-ROOSH”) literally means “strong,” but is often used a way of saying csípős (spicy). The most common brand of spicy pepper paste in Hungary is named Erős Pista, while plain, strong stock is called erőleves, on the theory that it makes the people who eat it erős.
