Desk Test: Sandwiches Delivered From The Four Corners Of Europe

sammy1.jpgWhen it comes to ordering food, it usually comes down to a choice of pizza, pizza or pizza, although there sure are some real genre-bending offerings out there. So when we heard that the cold sarnies at Il Treno were the thing to go for, we were very grateful for the hot (actually cold) tip. As we discovered, the great thing about ordering sandwiches is that at home, there is no one to see you dribble majo down your front, which gave the folks at The Train license to be super generous with the fillings. The grilled chicken and turkey sandwiches, to be found at Netpincér under the heading Il Treno Magvas Bucik, come in two sizes, piccolo (Ft 690) and very large (Ft 1190) and four varieties from across Europe.

The bad-breath Magyaros option is from Debrecen, and what is lacks in Debreceni kolbász, it makes up for with onions and Erős Pista, Hungary’s ubiquitous thick paprika sauce.

The Rhodes (Rodoszi) variety contains the refreshing Greek salad and yoghurt.

And the Neapolitan (Nápolyi) is the one with the egg.

An interior shot of the Dijon – chicken, bacon and mustard – is missing (looking at the insides of sandwiches made us hungry), but we did sample all four, and none of them disappointed. On the contrary, the euro-flavors complemented each other very nicely, and the yoghurt stains look great on our pants.
