Court of Grape Fairy to Host Racy Christian Wine Blessing Also for Little Childrens Near to Historic Pesti Zoopark

We try to make a habit of not spoofing the often (unintentionally) hilarious English translations that regularly appear on food and wine-related Hungarian websites. But since the Budapest Tourism Office has probably eaten a million forints of our hard-earned tax money over the years, we'll make an exception for their festive description of this year's Borfalu ("Wine Village") festival, (picture above from last year's event), which starts today and runs until Monday. Nice!
At the end of August village drummers will appear at various locations of Budapest for the fourth occasion to advertise the Wine Village, that is, more than 200 wine cellars and winegrowers and 10 pálinka producers. The aim of the event, similarly to the ones before, is to introduce some of the 558 grape- and wine-growing settlements in Hungary. Visitors are served must, wine spritzer and cheese in different tents, while village drummers and pretty hostesses assist them during the rich cultural program. The settlements introduce their wine-growing traditions and cultural life, and Wine Orders from different parts of the country also offer a spectacular program.
Children are also offered rich programs in the Court of the Grape Fairy where various musical and theatrical performances, clowns and handicraft training await them. The jury of the open wine competition evaluates all kinds of wine, red and white, sweet and dry. The traditional All Christian Wine Blessing by the Calvinist, Catholic and Lutheran Churches takes place on the stage at 12 on Sunday. The informal professional discussions will probably be very popular too, where artists, writers, poets will discuss the "often racy" connections among art, politics, science and wine.
All of which might be translated as: same wine festival, different weekend, give or take a few pretty hostesses and grape fairies, and, if you go this afternoon, attack helicopters. See you there.
