Costes announced as "Restaurant of the Year" winner for 2009

costes-best-in-09.jpgCostes was declared the "Restaurant of the Year" for 2009 by the dining website Dining Guide, which organized the contest for the fifth time. The winner of the award was decided by a 36-member jury. The kitchen of the Ráday utca restaurant was led by Portuguese chef Miguel Rocha until the end of 2009. At the beginning of this year, however, he was replaced by the Argentine Nicolas Rafael Delgado who has worked at several Michelin star-winning French restaurants.

Costes is associated with Károly Gerendai, the main organizer behind the annual Sziget Festival. "I don't want to be immodest, but I'm convinced that we're trying to provide the best, and am glad that others recognize this," Gerendai said when receiving the award. He added that he was convinced his restaurant would not receive an award like this so soon after opening in 2008.

The winners of Dining Guide's awards in previous years were Fausto's (2005 and 2007), Lou Lou (2006) and Bock Bisztró (2008).

The other nominees for the "Restaurant of the Year 2009" title were Arany Kaviár, Babel, Bock Bisztró, Chateau Visz, Csalogány 26, Enoteca Corso, Fausto's, Kistücsök and Onyx.

best restaurant my ass

best of shopping in France, best money laundry, best of wasting cash for stupidity, best of hungarian gastro-mafia, best of finishing your meal hungry, best of employing aliens, best of kissing my ass ruthless Dining Guide.hu!

Worst troll on the Hungarian culinary scene.

I was Costes regular and a fan of Miguel's work. Unfortunately the new Chef is not in the same league. I'm sorry to say but i didnt really enjoy my last meal there and with the prices they charge i rather go somewhere else... Maybe it was the last prize this restaurant won for a while (only if Mr. Gerendai uses his "connections"...) There are better and cheapper places to eat in town thats for sure! Happy weekend everyone :)
