burgerwarsmall.jpgWith 15 burgers already down in the ongoing Budapest Burgerwar™, we are really starting to see some patterns develop. In addition to burgers seldom coming cooked the way they are ordered, we have also found far too otherwise excellent burgers marred by misshapen, soggy, eggy or otherwise bad buns. In fact, it's such a common problem that it even haunts restaurants that seem to specialize in burgers, such as the Cara Mia Étterem és Kávéház, also known as the Cara Mia Burger Bár.

To be fair, Cara Mia's burgers are pretty darn good, save for this darn bun problem. Note that you can have your choice of a standard-sized, 200 gram burger for Ft 1,050 (€4.20), or a 160-gram "junior" for Ft 850, both of which come without (quite nice) fries costing Ft 250, and a range of add-ons (e.g. bacon) that cost a bit extra. We'd also point out that the place itself, which used to be known as "Caramel," is quite pleasant, offering both a smoothly-designed interior and a row of tables along a nice stretch of Ráday utca. So with a better bun, and maybe a slightly more attentive waiter (ours didn't ask how we wanted our burger) this might have been the one. But until then, it's back to the front.
